Alien Theory

Is it just me or does the majority of sci-fi movies out there have the strangest tradition of an alien race annihilating the human race. Not only that, but these aliens basically succeed in defeating the humans. At the last moment these people, who normally would be defeated and have no chance of survival somehow succeed. The number one reason that I see in these sci-fi films is the redeemable quality reason. This one reason I am completely sick of. I see that the aliens see one small group of humans and see the love, hope, and other good qualities that humankind may exemplify. I am sick of that, because the very first reason the aliens were killing the humans is because of their destructive barbarian ways. Yet for some reason true love removes all consequences. Atleast come up with a better reason. Seriously, what gives the aliens the right to destroy mankind because of these awful qualities. Why are they playing god? I mean if they hold certain qualities higher than others like humans, wouldn’t genocide be an attrocity? In the end, logically it doesn’t hold up.

Then the question arises, how would one defeat a superior race who is bent on extermination?

I also hate the concept that a superior race has some small tiny flaw. Something that one would think would be overlooked by their own pride. In the end I feel that this type of flaw is too shallow. It’s the easiest way out. Things need to be more complex, humans are complex individuals, and with that in mind a superior race, such as these aliens that are bent on exterminating the planet we should see more complex race and more complex flaws. Pride is the easiest to identify, but honestly literature in concept should be more whole.
