I was able to watch the film Tangled on opening night. Fortunately, it was a later showing and there were limited people in the theater. I was also fortunate to watch the movie in 3D. I enjoy movies in 3D. It gives a much more realism to the film, and being animated, realism is something that usually lacks by its very nature.
From the very beginning of the animated feature, I was drawn into the simplicity and yet classic Read more…
I watched the seventh installment of the Harry Potter film series on November 19, 2010. I actually got to the theater around 4:45 PM for a 6:40 showing. I had no idea of what the status of the line would be. I wanted to be sure to get the best available seat in the theater. For some reason, I really wanted to feel alright about the seating. Turns out my wife and I came to the theater about 30 minutes before a line was started. Around 5:15 PM people started showing up and by 6:10 PM which was when the theater personnel allowed us to enter the theater. The great thing was that we got the perfect row and the perfect seating for our group.
Now let us move on to the movie. I enjoyed the movie. The acting, once again was spot on, and did not give the impression that they were acting. It seemed more that they were the characters that they played. It was definitely a dark movie, but not truly dark. There were some elements the were dark, but not a true evil as one would think. Throughout the film I thought that the movie was going to be more evil than displayed.
The movie definitely felt more like a book than a film. Yes, obviously the movie is a movie, but the way the film developed felt more like a book. I’m glad that it is split into two films because it allows many of the “smaller” parts to be shown on film. The split gives more depth to the character development in this film.
There were some moments of the film where I felt that they took elements from Lord of the Rings, but I guess imitation is the purest form of flattery. I felt that the elements that were imitated brought the film less authenticity. I say less authenticity because a person is supposed to be drawn into a film, but if there is some element that seems wrong in some way it brings them back to reality. That effect hit me several times during the movie.
Another issue that deals with the movie, I will most likely explain in 6 months because it deals with things that may spoil the movie. Although in 3 months, I’m sure all those who would see the movie will see the movie. So who knows, I may decide to explain another problem that I had with the movie.
Overall I thought the movie was an excellent first part, but I will need to see the second part in order to judge The Deathly Hallows as a whole.
Today I finally got to see Christopher Nolan’s latest brilliant film. This man is an unbelievable writer and director. Being a brilliant director helps Nolan in his writing. There are mind-blowing special effects with many plot twists. The film is thought provoking through out and will leave you debating with you friends. Go see it!
Inception brings us a world where dream invasion technology exists. A special conman using this technology is given the chance of redemption which requires him to assemble a team to execute the toughest job of his career.
Have you ever just have a strong desire to write, but when you go to write you can’t? That is how I feel right now. There are so many things on my mind, but it has become hard for me to actually put them down on paper. Let me try. Read more…
Is it just me or does the majority of sci-fi movies out there have the strangest tradition of an alien race annihilating the human race. Not only that, but these aliens basically succeed in defeating the humans. At the last moment these people, who normally would be defeated and have no chance of survival somehow succeed. The number one reason that I see in these sci-fi films is the redeemable quality reason. This one reason I am completely sick of. Read more…
