Next (2007)
I have been searching through the database of the movies of Netflix and have been curious about several movies. One of the movies that caught my attention was a movie titled “Next”. The movie starred Nicholas Cage, Julianne Moore, and Jessica Biel. The movie was released in 2007. It was rated PG-13 for intense sequences of violent action, and some language. The movie ran 96 minutes long.
Synopsis:
A Las Vegas magician who can see 2 minutes in the future is pursued by an FBI Agent who would like to use his abilities to catch international terrorists who plan to deploy a stolen nuclear device.
Impressions:
My first impressions of the movie were average at best. The screenwriters took a good concept, and diluted it with cheesy lines and an unappealing storyline. The director was then left with average acting to a poorly written screenplay. In my opinion the saving grace of the movie is Nicholas Cage and the action sequences. If this movie did not have Nicholas in it, I would not have considered watching the film. His acting was far above the other actors, and made the movie entertaining. The action sequences with SWAT were prolonged, and definitely were by far the most entertaining.
Final Say:
The movie as a whole was entertaining, but not worth the 96 minutes. I would not recommend this movie.
Rating: 5/10
